See: Upholstery Journal Article about the 2010 Upholstery Fair

The Upholstery Fair is a one of its kind event!

It offers higher education to those in the trade, as well as basic how to's for those interested in learning upholstery techniques. Also some fun projects for the D.I.Y.er!

West Lafayette, Indiana

This two day fair will gather professionals from all over the U.S. to learn new ways to expand their business. It will give the upholsterer just starting out the opportunity to be shown in person by experts the right way to approach a project.

The idea was born, in part, from the many questions addressed on the Professional Upholsterers & Soft Furnishings site hosted by Jack Carr. Since 2000, the members have lent a helping hand to each other in all areas of business, peers teaching peers everything from the traditional to the contemporary, from shop skills to marketing tips.

One question that comes up often is: Where is upholstery training offered?
Maybe the first question should be: What area of upholstery would I like best?
Furniture, Automotive, Marine, Antique Furniture, Slipcovers, Awnings....

At the Upholstery Fair you?ll be given the opportunity to get information and see demonstrations in nearly every field of Upholstery and Soft Furnishings. If you are currently in one field of upholstery and are considering adding another dimension to your business, the Upholstery Fair will help you see if the field you are thinking about is truly suited to you.

You won?t become an expert by taking any of the classes offered, but you will learn the fundamentals and requirements to give the D.I.Y.ers a starting point to take on your project of interest. Also, the professional will gain enough knowledge to decide what area to add to their business, as well how to get started growing this new component of their capability.

Class instructors; Bob Gantz, Jack Carr, Keith Mealy, Kim Buckminster and Kim Newell.
